The first encounter

SO, it has been 4 days since I am home from the Island. First time I landed on the Island of Z was about 4 and a half months back (8th December 2008).

Going to the Island for my practical training was like a wish come true. Being in Hawaii for so long, of course one would be longing to return. However, when you could not afford to do so YET. You would crave for something which has more similarity to it. Island of Zhivago would be my first choice.

When I first place my placement, islands were my choices until the Administrator finalized. I was put on a City Hotel which I do not fancy much. I was out raged when I first saw my name under the City Hotel. I was thinking to myself like, 'hell no way I am doing my practical there! the management just sucks ass big time!'

And so, I fought for my choice. City Hotel was never my first, nor second even third choice! How could they just put me there? So, I went in the room and consulted the Administrator. I put my foot down for resorts hotel and I reasoned them for putting me on that City Hotel's list.

According to them it was because they reckon that I would learn more in that City Hotel than any of the rest due to the flow of people that would be going in and out of that place and it's frequency of banqueting and the expected crowds in the food outlets. I was like, 'uhm I am not buying that! I insist on resort hotel!'

Ha..so who was paying the Administrator their salaries? Obviously ME. Eventually I got to where I wanted to go with my other classmate. The hotel is new, well new as in 'no-other-students-went-there-before' kind of new. We were the first. First and proud. We were both so excited till we browse pictures of them of the internet. Incredible place, beautiful sceneries. Plain, AWESOMENESS. Hell yea we loved it!

Despite them not providing us any accomodations and allowances even transport. We willingly accepted their offer and booked our flight to get our feet on that island. It was awesome how determination can do. Proudly we smile at our choice.

Never been so happy before for so long! I couldn't wait to get out from this house and live my life to the fullness! However, still feel a little bit of 'i-will-miss-home-eventually' feeling sneak its way out somehow.

Two days before, we have to go. I start to pack, looking at the fact that I will still be in Malaysia and not so far away from home (literally) didn't think I need to bring a big luggage or too much of unnecessary things along. Well, I didn't take anything unnecessary, but just enough of clothes and other stuffs along. I think...I packed well.

SO as usual, mom would give a little red packet with ringgit note inside. God knows how much until I get on the plane! That would be the first thing I will open up and see!

Took my luggage and bags and not forgetting my own little comforting pillow, stuff them in the car and off we go to the airport. I drove that day, apparently...well yea I took a wrong turn and just went somewhere else. It was embarrassing because I insist that I know the way. Anyways, we got our way back on track and on our way safe and sound to the 'low-cost-airbus-terminal'. We were kind of a little bit just on time. While waiting on Phyllis to come and check in with me, we went on McDonald's just to have a quick bite.

Waiting and waiting...she was so late. So late that she will be missing the check-in. Hell, I was nervous. So nervous that I could not even breath! She texted me saying she's on the highway and it was bad..bad..I mean bad traffic! She said she is using the emergency lane. I was like 'ok!' and she said 'it's jammed up too!' I was thinking to myself, hell city people! Don't you know what emergency lane is for?! it's for EMERGENCY DAMN IT!

Just about that sad 5 mins before the counter closes for check-in. Thank GOD I SAW HER SHADOW rushing through the door! PHEW! that was close! so we quickly checked her in and rush to the gate for boarding...just a few minutes left. Hoping we can still make it and not miss the flight!

So carrying our heavy bags all sweaty and rushy..we found our gate and sat and waited. Our flight will take off at 9.30pm

*Ding*Dong* Special announcements made. Our flight AK6298 will be delayed UNTIL further notice.

I looked at her and gave her a disgusted look. 'Damn it! of all the rush now telling me our flight will be DELAYED!' I rolled my eyes and just raging with fire in my eyes! THat was NOT FAIR! Until further notice? When? an hour? two hours? Jezzzz!!

This terminal was boring, nothing much to entertain ourselves with. WE talked craps that I don't even remember what it was. Called up the landlord about our delayed flight, called up our friend who was already there telling her we might need to stay over at her place for the night because our landlord could not wait up for us till late.

SO another *DING*DONG* special announcement saying our flight will take off at 11.50pm. Another amen to that, with the reason there has been heavy raining over at the island. Heavy rain alright, it was dry at the airport. What kind of rain would delayed a flight for 2 whole unreasonable hours? Storm? Gosh...

And so we took off safe and sound and arrived at god knows what time. I don't even remember. The only thing I remember was we were famished because of hunger. We hopped on a cab and rush our way to our friend's apartment hoping that she would have something fulfilling to eat~!

Argh! Great! Instant cup noodles~ satisfying indeed. I refuse to talk about our luggage because there is no need. They were HEAVY. Period. Fullstop. But we managed to get them upstairs. Proud and loud =)

So we sleep over at Dyba's place. We were tired and just slap ourselves in her bed and slept through the night while thinking of how to get to our place the next day. Good night.
